IOTA XI PHILANTHROPY

Philanthropy is a central value in Delta Zeta's creed: "may I give graciously of what is mine." The value of service is something the ladies of Iota Xi cherish and uphold. Every member of the sorority has a minimum requirement of hours and/or dollars donated for philanthropy per semester. Together, we provide valuable hours of service to our campus and our community.

In Fall 2015, we held our first Hike For Hearing Football Tournament in which we raised $800 for Starkey. Then in Spring 2016, we partnered with the Lindenwood University chapter and held our first Hike for Hearing 5K. Fall 2016 brought our 2nd Football Tournament, at which we raised $2,000+ for Starkey. Every April, we host Listen Carefully Week, where we spread awareness of and raise money for our philanthropy. Proceeds from our philanthropy events typically go towards our national partnerships: Starkey Hearing Foundation, The Painted Turtle Camp, and Galluadet University. We also participate in various service opportunities through UMSL, such as the MLK Day of Service, Greek Week, Homecoming, and Relay for Life. We also find it important to participate in other Greek organization's philanthropy events, so we budget chapter funds to send DZ members to these events. Our philanthropic values constantly encourage members to seek new opportunities where they may give graciously of what is theirs.
